| General Description: | History of the Club We can trace the story of handball in Mosfellsbær from the year 1946, but the team UMFA (Afturelding) Handball Club was founded in the year 1973. The golden years of the handball in Mosfellsbær were 1997 when the team won the Icelandic first Divison and the year 1999 when UMFA won the first Divison, National Championship, the National Cup and Reykjavik Cup, so all four major titles that year. Since then the team has been up and down, but now the team is again in the top league and building up a good team of young players coming from younger teams of UMFA. The town Mosfellbaer is very close to Reykjavik the capital city, only 15 minutes drive. Just over 8000 people live in Mosfellsbær we have good community service, 3 indoor halls, 2 outdoor swimming pools and 1 indoor swimming pool and good all year round sports accommodation. |
| Background: | The head coach is Bjarki Sigurðsson born 1967, he has played 228 international games for the Icelandic national team, played himself in Norway and Iceland most of his carrier. Coaching Viking and UMFA since 2000 in the top league in Iceland. |
| Other Information: | • The team is looking for right back and left back and/or playmaker, left wing that can play as a left back too, the club can offer good salaries, bonus, car, apartment and possible work. • Could be a great opportunity for young player that is willing to play in a strong league which all the big teams in Europe keep close eye on. • Also good opportunity for player with technical and/or engineering university education and background, one of the biggest engineering company in Iceland is willing to sponsor a “work and play” for a player with that kind of education. |
