Hibernians Football Club was founded in 1922. Ten years later it was affiliated with the Malta Football Association under the name of Constitutionals - the name of a local political party - six years later Constitutionals won the first Amature League. In the same year the committee decided to change the name of the club to Hibernians.

Football Club. The first committee under the name of Hibernians Football Club was lead by the president Carmelo Gauci. Since than Hibernians F.C. had fifteen presidents. The actual president is Mr. Anthony Bezzina (pic on the right) and he has been in this role since 1978.

Hibernians F.C. won nine leagues the last one was in 2001-2002, and also six FA Trophies and other prestigious trophies like the Sons of Malta Cup, three time the Independence Cup, twice the Testaferrata Cup, and once the Olimpic Cup, Schembri Said Shield and the Super Five Cup.

Hibernians Football Ground History :-

The Hibernians Football Ground has been run by the Hibernians Ground Management Board since 1986. The Hibernians Football ground was inaugurated by the Hon. Lorry Sant (then minister for Works and Sport) on the 9th November 1986, officially handed over the management of the vastly refurbished former Naval ground at Corradino to Hibernians who thus became the first Maltese club to run its own Stadium. A number of improvements have been made. A major improvement was the setting up of the canopy (which is on the West Side of the pitch) and which measures 300ft by 50ft. This canopy used to shade the main stadium of Malta which was in Gzira. Another addition was the score board. This was formerly used at today's national stadium Ta' Qali. Moreover the surfaces of the main pitch and the training area were changed from a sand surface into a turf surface. These improvements together with the continuous improvements such as the erecting of another two modern dressing rooms have made it one of the major grounds on the Island.
