Highly-rated hooker Pieter Dixon joined Bath Rugby two season’s ago after a long and successful career in Provincial and Super Twelve rugby in South Africa.
The Zimbabwean-born forward joined the club from the Investec Stormers, for whom he made nearly 30 Super 12 starts and scored seven tries in a career that took him to the cusp of the South African international set-up.

Indeed Pieter’s addition to the Bath Rugby squad is seen as an example of the club’s continued investment in strengthening the first team squad and he has provided valuable experience to the position of hooker, alternating with Lee Mears in the number two shirt.

Pieter is a mobile hooker who has exceptional ball skills, but he is also a player with good core set-piece skills. His scrummaging is strong, whilst his lineout work has earned much praise in South Africa and within the English Premiership.

Pieter ensured his popularity at the club early on when he scored in their first Powergen Cup match against Bristol Rugby in October 2005. A shoulder injury prevented him from joining the 2006/07 campaign until December, limiting his total appearances last season to twelve, but he happily signed a year’s extension to his contract and with Mears likely to take part in the World Cup, is looking forward to more game-time this season, and his experience will be highly valued
