Fourie du Preez made his Super rugby debut for the Bull versus the Brumbies in 2003 and went on to make his international debut in 2004 against Ireland.

He had an excellent 2006 season for both his club and country, which resulted in him being named as South Africa's Player of the Year, and he was nominated for the IRB Player of the Year award.

In 2007, he had another good season for the Bulls before injury struck but he was still selected in the squad for the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France. Du Preez played a blinder of a tournament in France and firmly established himself as the best scrumhalf on the world scene.

Du Preez will captain the Bulls in 2008 following the departure of Victor Matfield. He's only 24-years-old, but he has a mature head on his shoulders and he will shoulder most of the responsibility for guiding the Bulls' defence of their title.

Having previously represented South Africa at U19 level, du Preez was part of the U21 side that won the first U21 World Cup in 2002.
