The strong tackling left back was signed from Ross County in 1998 and has become a favourite with the Inverness fans for his no-nonsense approach. He is very composed on the ball and his distribution is first class.

Stuart began his career with the Caley youth side before moving to play for local rivals Clachnacuddin. Excellent performances saw him sign for Ross County and he spent three-and-a-half seasons with the Dingwall side, helping them to win the Bell’s Third Division championship.

He made his debut for Inverness CT at the start of Season 1999-2000 in the 1st Round of the CIS League Cup down at Ochilview, ICT defeating Stenhousemuir 3-1. During the season he made a total of 41 appearances for the club (31 league, 10 cup) and was part of the ICT starting line-up in the Bell�s League Challenge Cup Final against Alloa Athletic. During the season he scored the one goal, but what a sensational strike it was, a 20-yard curling drive into the top corner of the net against Livingston on Saturday, 6th November.

Stuart was also part of the ICT side which defeated Celtic 3-1 down at Celtic Park to cause a Scottish Cup sensation and also played in both games in the next round against Aberdeen. He also picked up two winners medals during this season when he was part of the ICT side who defeated Lossiemouth 3-0 in the final of the North of Scotland Cup in September and also the side who defeated Forres Mechanics 6-0 in the final of the Inverness Cup.
