When AEK scouters were looking for talents, found a good goalkeeer.
At the age of 22 Mihailidis joined AEK to be third choice, after Atmatsidis and Karagianis.
From Anagenisi Ptolemaida went to Eordaikos, where the experienced Mitromaras and Giouros made it difficult for him. Although he debuted at the age of 18.
With AEK debuted in Iraklion against OFI and a few days later played in Europe against Vitesse Arnem.
During 2001-02 season played on loan with Ethnikos Asteras, making impressive performances.
